ABOUT THE ARTIST
Adriana Naveh is an Argentinean-Israeli artist known for her vibrant, textured style that blends contemporary impressionism and abstract expressionism.
 
Life and Education
Birth & Origin: Born in 1963 in Mendoza, Argentina, a region known for its sun and wine.
Education: She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the De Cuyo University in Argentina in 1985.
Immigration to Israel: Later that year, she immigrated to Israel, continuing her artistic studies at the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv. She also studied interior design.
Mentorship & Teaching: Naveh refined her skills under influential artists like Ian Rauchwerger and worked in the studio of Calman Shemi. She has taught drawing at various institutions, including the Yad Lebanim Museum and Amamit University in Jerusalem.
 
Artistic Style and Inspiration
Mediums: Naveh frequently uses a large palette knife to apply thick layers of paint, creating a three-dimensional, impasto effect. Her work is characterized by bold colors and a mixture of freedom and order.
Subjects: Her earlier works often focused on everyday scenes and figures, particularly women in deep thought, representing intimacy and strength.
Urban Landscapes: In recent years, her primary focus has shifted to colorful, abstract urban landscapes using a unique technique involving acrylic on aluminum panels with multiple layers of lacquer, which gives the artwork a luminous, modern finish.
Inspiration: As an immigrant living in Jerusalem, Naveh is fascinated by urban architecture and the persistent search for one's place in their environment, a theme she explores in her art.
