About the Artist: Alexander Calder (1898–1976)
Alexander Calder was a titan of 20th-century modernism and one of the most influential American artists of all time. Born into a family of sculptors, he revolutionized the medium by introducing movement, famously described by Marcel Duchamp as "mobiles."
