This artwork prominently features water lilies, capturing a serene natural scene with a focus on light and reflection on the water's surfac. Lily pads grow in freshwater environments like ponds, lakes, and slow moving streams.  They thrive ina reas with still or slow-moving water where they can root in the muddy bottom and have their leaves float on the surface. 
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Brent Heighton (born 1954) is a highly regarded Canadian artist, primarily known for his vibrant and expressive paintings in various mediums, including watercolors, oils, and acrylics. 
Early Life and Education:
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Heighton spent his formative years on a hobby farm in Pitt Meadows, which instilled in him a deep appreciation for nature.
He later moved to southern Ontario where he discovered his talent for caricature and drawing, and his passion for painting was ignited under the tutelage of his high school art teacher, Mrs. Suderman.
He pursued formal art education at Algonquin College of Fine Art in Ottawa (1974-75) and audited courses at Douglas College in Vancouver (1976-78), focusing on fine arts and life drawing, while also exploring commercial art techniques.
