ABOUT THE ARTIST
Charles van den Eycken (1859-1923) was a Belgian painter known for his whimsical depictions of animals, particularly cats and dogs, in interior settings. He often portrayed them in humorous and engaging poses, making his work both entertaining and appealing. Van den Eycken's art gained popularity in both the English and American markets, with his work being exhibited in London and receiving commissions from American collectors. 
 
Van den Eycken studied under animal artist J. Stevens and began exhibiting his work regularly in Salons across Belgium and neighboring countries from 1881.
