ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Dima Gorban is a Russian-born contemporary artist known for his distinctive, photorealistic still-life paintings and serigraphs, particularly those featuring wine. Background and Career
Early Life and Education: Born in the former Soviet Union in 1961, Gorban showed an early aptitude for art, starting at age seven. He attended the Kishinev School of Art at age ten and later completed studies at the Higher School for the Painting Arts in Kishinev in 1980. He finished his formal fine art studies in 1989 at the Lvov Academy for Painting.
Inspiration for Wine Art: Gorban's affinity for wine began in childhood, helping his grandfather cultivate grapes and make wine for the family.
Career Shift: After moving his family to Israel in 1990, he worked as a successful graphic designer, creating designs for t-shirts sold internationally. Inspired by his older brother Michael, also a successful artist, Dima eventually returned to his "first love — painting" and became a full-time artist.
Style and Recognition: Gorban is known for a precise, unique style and bold colors in his still life compositions. His work has been exhibited in galleries worldwide, including in Moscow, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, and New York, and is widely collected.
