  • The 1940 Walt Disney animated film Pinocchio tells the story of a wooden puppet who longs to become a real boy, guided by his conscience, Jiminy Cricket.
    Here's a synopsis:

A Wish Granted: The lonely woodcarver Geppetto creates a puppet named Pinocchio and wishes upon a star for him to become a real boy. The benevolent Blue Fairy grants this wish by bringing Pinocchio to life, but he remains a puppet and must prove himself "brave, truthful, and unselfish" to become a human boy. Jiminy Cricket is appointed as his official conscience to guide him.

Early Temptations: Pinocchio is easily led astray, first by the cunning Honest John and Gideon, who sell him to the villainous puppet master Stromboli. After being imprisoned, he's rescued by the Blue Fairy, who also helps him when his nose grows from telling lies.

Pleasure Island: Later, Pinocchio falls into temptation again, joining Lampwick and other boys on the lawless Pleasure Island, where they indulge in mischievous behavior. Jiminy discovers that the island transforms disobedient boys into donkeys for labor. Pinocchio escapes before full transformation, though he retains donkey ears and a tail.

Searching for Geppetto: Returning home, Pinocchio finds Geppetto gone, having been swallowed by the monstrous whale Monstro while searching for Pinocchio. Pinocchio, accompanied by Jiminy, heroically sets out to rescue his father.

Becoming a Real Boy: Inside Monstro, Pinocchio reunites with Geppetto. They devise a plan to escape, but Pinocchio seemingly perishes in the struggle to save his father from the enraged whale. However, for his bravery and selflessness, the Blue Fairy revives him, finally transforming him into a real human boy, fulfilling Geppetto's wish.

What is a Sericel or Serigraphic Cel? It is a form of Animation Art.To produce these silkscreens, artists create a hand-inked, hand-painted color model of animated characters, which is then transferred to the acetate cel by a silkscreen printing process known a serigraphy
