ABOUT THE ARTIST
Don Hatfield (Donald Eric Hatfield) is a notable contemporary American artist known for his impressionistic paintings, particularly those depicting beach scenes with families and children. 
Birth and Location: He was born on May 16, 1947, in Long Beach, California, and currently lives in Napa, California
Education and Early Career: Hatfield initially pursued studies in philosophy, theology, and literature at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, in the late 1960s and early '70s. He worked as an evangelical minister, a carpenter, and in retail management before fully committing to art.
Artistic Development and Style: He became involved in art while in graduate school and later studied with the portrait painter Charles Cross. His style is categorized as Romantic Impressionist, known for using soft, pastel colors and rich textures to portray quiet emotions in everyday scenes. He is inspired by artists such as Edward Henry Potthast, William Glackens, and Joaquin Sorolla, and his work also reflects the influence of modern cinematic color and interpretation.
