Harrison Campbell Rucker (1930 - 2020) was an American artist known for his impressionistic paintings, particularly those featuring female figures and ballerinas, as seen in works like "Prelude.

Key biographical details:
  • Education and Early Career: Rucker studied art at the Richmond Professional Institute and the Cleveland Institute of Art. He began his career in commercial art as an illustrator and founded High Point, NC's first advertising art studio. He also served as the first president of the Art Directors Club of Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem.
  • Transition to Fine Art: At the age of 39, Rucker transitioned to painting full-time, pursuing his passion for fine art.
  • Exhibitions and Recognition: Throughout his career, Rucker held 27 one-man shows and exhibited his work in galleries across the United States, including New York, Carmel (California), and Naples (Florida).
  • Artistic Style: While known for his commercial art background, Rucker's fine art pieces often featured impressionistic styles and subjects, including the nudes and ballet themes for which he gained recognition.
