About the Artist...
Jan Balet (1913-2009) was a German-American painter, graphic artist, and illustrator. He was born in Bremen, Germany, and studied art in Munich before moving to New York in 1938. Balet worked as an illustrator for major companies and children's books. His work is often characterized by a naive art style, influenced by folk art. He is known for his lithographs and paintings that depict everyday life with a touch of whimsy.
