Kerry Hallam (1937–2020) was a renowned British-born artist celebrated for his vibrant, impressionistic paintings, particularly those depicting coastal and city scenes with a distinctive use of light and color. 
Biography Highlights:
Early Life & Education: Born in Northern England, Hallam displayed artistic talent early on, winning a six-year scholarship to London University's Central College of Art where he studied under notable figures like Leslie Cole, Patrick Heron, and Hans Tisdale.
Military Service & Musical Interlude: After graduating, he served in the British military in Hong Kong and Malaya. Later, he had a brief but notable career as a musical performer in the late 1960s and early 1970s, even opening for James Taylor and releasing an LP.
Move to the US and Artistic Dedication: In 1973, Hallam moved to the United States, settling in New England and fully dedicating himself to painting. He established his first studio in Boston and later opened a studio and gallery on Nantucket Island in 1981, where he continued to work.
Artistic Style & Influences: Hallam's style is described as impressionistic with clear Fauvist influences, using bold palettes and captivating compositions. He was inspired by artists like Van Gogh, Cezanne, Matisse, and Dufy, aiming to "build on their feelings, dance to their music". His work is known for merging abstracted realism with environmental energy, creating lively and serene landscapes.
Recognition & Legacy: Hallam's art garnered significant recognition throughout his career, including inclusion in Britain's Royal Society of Artists in Watercolor and winning first place at L'Association Pour le Promotion Artistique Francais. His works were featured in numerous publications, including Forbes magazine, and exhibited in galleries worldwide. He passed away in 2020 at the age of 83
