Colored Lithograph on Arches Paper( Arches paper is a brand of air-dried paper that is used by printers and watercolorists.  It has a warm color and is produced in hot-pressed, cold-pressed and rough varieties.  Arches paper is made in the village of Arches in Vosges, France). 
The original oil  is part of the Chester Dale Collection and is housed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.. It was painted during Picasso's Neoclassicist period, characterized by a return to more traditional painting techniques with proportionate figures and a single perspective, contrasting with his earlier Cubist style. 
The work depicts a tender moment of affection between a man and a woman, with the man embracing the woman from behind as she holds his hand.

PABLO PICASSO BIOGRAPHY
