Peter Max – Artist Biography
Peter Max is one of the most celebrated living artists of our time and a true pop culture icon. Renowned for his bold colors, uplifting imagery, and extraordinary artistic range, Max’s work has touched nearly every facet of American life and inspired generations around the world.
Over the course of his remarkable career, Max has created art for six U.S. Presidents, with his works displayed in Presidential Libraries and U.S. Embassies worldwide. Since America’s Bicentennial in 1976, he has famously painted the Statue of Liberty each year, and in 2000, his Liberty collage appeared on more than 145 million Verizon phone books across the country.
Max’s influence extends across major cultural and sporting events. He was named the Official Artist of the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team for the Winter Games in Turin, Italy, and has also served as Official Artist for five Super Bowls, the World Cup USA, The World Series, The U.S. Open, The Indy 500, the New York City Marathon, and the Kentucky Derby.
