The Series: This piece is part of a series of six travel posters commissioned by the SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français), the French national railway.
Purpose: The posters were designed to promote tourism to various regions in France, including Paris, the Alps, Auvergne, Normandy, and Roussillon.
Collection: It is part of the "Butterfly Suite" (or Suite Papillon), so named for the delicate, winged elements Dalí often integrated into these compositions.
